Missing Green

While working on a time machine, Cyborg accidentally travels back in time 8 years and finds himself in a jungle. There he stops Beast Boy from attacking a small boy and meets the Logans, a very nice family of scientists. When he manages to get back into his own time, he finds that Beast Boy is missing and no one except for himself seems to remember the green shapeshifter…

Chapter 1: Meet Garfield

„Come on baby, work!" Cyborg mumbled as he worked on his new time machine. Robin had told him to build one so Warp couldn't get away from them by travelling through time, but it was harder to build than expected.
"Ok, this should do it, oh wait, forgot the power cell…" Just when Cyborg put the power cell in place, a blinding light flashed and the machine was gone.
"Huh?" Cyborg looked up and gaped. He was in a jungle.
"Oh great… please tell me I wasn't send back in time again…" He pleaded, checking his arm for the time period he was in.
"I was send back…" he grumbled "but fortunately only 8 years, better than being a barbarian again."

A noise that sounded like a kid laughing happily came to his ears and Cyborg followed it curiously to a clearing. There, in the high grass, was a small, blonde boy running after a big butterfly and trying to catch it. Cyborg couldn't help but smile at this nice scene, although he was wondering what such a little boy was doing alone so close to a jungle.
As Cyborg looked on he noticed a green monkey drop from a tree into the grass just about ten meters in front of the boy.
'What the… Beast Boy?' He thought 'Maybe the Doom Patrol's here, too' The boy also noticed the monkey and curiously walked towards it. Cyborg could see the monkey snarl at the boy and recoil to prepare for a jump. The metal man knew Beast Boy good enough to know what would come next and he couldn't believe the changeling would just attack a little boy without a reason.
The boy had his arm outstretched to pet the monkey when it started to snarl, but didn't seem to know how to react to this warning. When the monkey leapt at the boy, Cyborg quickly shot out his hand, grabbed the green monkey and recoiled his arm with the cable attached to it.
"Yo, green bean, I dunno why you're mad, but whatever it is, it's no reason to attack an innocent child!" The monkey struggled and tried to bite into the metal hand, before it managed to free itself and run away into the jungle.
Cyborg just stood there for a moment, looking to where the monkey had vanished, but he turned around when he heard a "Woooow, mtu chuma..." from behind him. There stood the little boy, awestruck and staring at him with sparkling blue eyes.
"Ehm… hey little guy, you ok?" Cyborg asked awkwardly, he hoped that the boy spoke English, since he hadn't understood what the boy just said.
"You save me of scary green monkey. Asante, mtu chuma." The boy thanked with a wide grin.
"No problem, little guy." Cyborg said as he turned around to leave again, but the small boy ran around him to his front and continued "Me name ni Garfield. You meet Mom na Dad, they sure want thank you two."
"Actually, I have to go…"
"Oh tafadhali" Garfield pleaded with a very sweet smile.
Cyborg sighed and said "Ok, show me the way to your parents." The boy happily jumped up and down and led Cyborg to a camp with two big and a smaller tent and two cheeps.
